Date: 9/JUN/2002 Location: Bolivar Flats, Texas Photo by Kinjo Yonemoto Note: Black Skimmer is supposed to skim the surface with the lower mandible. Apparently the wind makes it difficult. This bird was skimming with unstable altitudes. Some times the bill was completely out of water, and other times like this shot, the bill was totally under the water. I could not tell if it was catching anything. |
