English: Barred Owl
Japanese: america hukurou Latin: Strix varia Date: 21/MAR/2002 Location: Bear Creek Park, Houston, Texas Size: L = 53cm, WS = 107cm Photo by Kinjo Yonemoto Note: I saw one owl flew away and found this one close by. I stayed still and watched the bird. He obviously saw me and watched me for a while then looked away. I took a few shots and walked toward the owl praying that he wouldn't fly. Slowly I approached within 10m of the bird and we watched each other for about 3 minutes. Then he disappeared into the thick woods. |
