Large flock of Grackles Fills the sky of Brazos Bend State Park at dawn

First I heard a noise similar to the sound of ocean. Then I noticed a cloud of birds approaching from the horizon. In a few minutes period it came, covered the whole sky and gone with the sound of thick muffled ubiquitous calls and wing beats. Then I found myself standing in a quiet swamp with a few herons around me wondering if that really happened. A magical moment.

English: Common Peafowl

Note: Two of these were sitting in front of a store at the access road to the Bolivar North Jetty. I wonder if they ever walk off to somewhere because there is no fence on the property. Please drive slowly if you go there. You don't want to run them over.

How often do you see Painted Bunting pair and Indigo Bunting pair posing for you all together?

This happened at Quintana Neotropic Bird Sanctuary on 26/APR/2003.
