Large flock of Grackles Fills the sky
of Brazos Bend State Park at dawn First I heard a noise similar to the
sound of ocean. Then I noticed a cloud of birds approaching from the horizon.
In a few minutes period it came, covered the whole sky and gone with the
sound of thick muffled ubiquitous calls and wing beats. Then I found myself
standing in a quiet swamp with a few herons around me wondering if that really
happened. A magical moment. |

Note: Two of these were sitting in front of a store at the access road to the Bolivar North Jetty. I wonder if they ever walk off to somewhere because there is no fence on the property. Please drive slowly if you go there. You don't want to run them over. |
