TOP: Juvenile on a berry bush. Last year this plant popped out of nowhere and they are all over my yard this year. I believe mockingbirds planted them for their own benefit. This plant is called Black Nightshade and is toxic to animals and humans. For more information go to http://www.psu.missouri.edu/fishel/black_nightshade.htm

Thanks to Gary Fritcher for identifying this plant.

SECOND: Juvenile eating peach.

This year my tree produced about 20 peaches. Mockingbirds and humans split them half and half. Late freeze in March made a little damage to the peach blossoms, but I believe that also killed the bugs. I don't use any insecticides and I didn't have to eat bug this year. :-) That may not be a good thing for the birds though.

THIRD: Juvenile on the fence.

Compare the tail length with adult picture below.

BOTTOM: Parent

Compared to the third picture adult mockingbird has much longer tail. The difference is clear in flight.

Northern Mockingbird

This immature bird takes break from searching food. As if it is enjoying the calm atmosphere in a residential area looking at the setting sun.
