Notes: I went to see spring migrants and saw many No. Shovelers still around. Then this big boy appeared. I stopped my truck and aimed my 500mm lens directly above my head through the window.

This is how the sky looks when the Bald Eagle shows up.  A flock of  approximately 5000 geese takes off for a good reason.  We witnessed a duck, who was presumably injured and stayed on the surface, was taken away by the eagle.  I also noticed when the eagle approached at lower altitude the geese stayed on the ground longer. This should increase the success rate for the eagle.

When the eagles soar or glide the wings are stretched flat, therefore you do not see V shape as you would on vultures and some hawks.  It can help you spot an eagle in the distance.  Keep your eyes on it because it may be approaching you.
